Directional Signs

Directional signs are an important part of the sign industry for a couple of reasons. Safety is a large reason we have directional signs.

One important directional sign is a "One Way" sign. It lets people know which direction the traffic is to flow on that road. Having such a directional sign help avoid confusion and accidents. The one way road is designed to help improve traffic flow and there is often a one way street besides another going in the opposite direction.

Directional signs will also help people find specific locations. Often there are special signs with arrows that direct people to such locations as the public library, schools and the hospital. These locations are frequented and having specific signs are helpful.

Usually directional signs in city and towns all look alike. The only difference is the text. A typical sign is on a post and the sign itself is aluminum that is covered in a reflective paint. This paint helps the important directional sign to be seen even at night. When vehicle headlights shine on the sign it allows the information to be seen, such as a stop sign at an intersection.

Towns and cities help keep the directional signs and other signs uniform and fit a theme by putting an Ordinance in place. The purpose is to help the town look appealing, but also to keep the public safe. These signs will inform residence as well as visitors know their way around the town including commercial areas and recreational locations. Towns want to insure that signs will not be a hazard, such as making it difficult to the visibility while driving or walking within the town or city.
